Annual Meetings
philoSOPHIA's Annual Meeting
Third Annual Meeting
New York City, May 27-29, 2008
We are pleased to announce that the 3rd annual meeting of philoSOPHIA: a feminist society will be held on May 27-29, 2009 in New York City. The conference is being jointly hosted by the John Jay College of Criminal Justice and Fordham University, Lincoln Center Campus. Our theme this year is Cross-Examining Now: Intersections of Gender, Race and Class. More details will be posted soon regarding special events and hotel arrangements.
We welcome project proposals of works in progress that engage continental feminist theory and work done on major figures and themes from the continental feminist tradition, as well as feminist work inspired by continental philosophy more generally. We also strongly encourage interdisciplinary and innovative approaches that combine theoretical perspectives and situated reflections.
Traditionally, philoSOPHIA is organized into workshop groups where each participant has 20 minutes to present their work and 30 minutes for discussion. Abstracts should be approximately 750 words and should be submitted electronically in .rtf format to submissions@philosophia.org or through the philoSOPHIA website no later than December 15, 2008. Abstracts should be suitable for blind review. In a separate document, please include your name, affiliation, contact info, and a brief bio, along with the title of your presentation.
